The BBC has an extensive series of audio recordings of poets reading their own work. Hearing recordings can seriously shift our own readings of poetry and, I find, gives the poem a ‘voice’ that we strained our ears for while reading. Here is Sylvia Plath’s haunting recording of Lady Lazarus.
