The Ranfurly Review is a literary journal from Edinburgh, published by Smashing Press and run by the talented author, Colin Galbraith. It is a quarterly publication, coming out in March, June, September and December every year, and it publishes high quality short fiction and poetry.
I am very pleased to be able to share that I have a piece of short fiction – ‘Entropy’s Arrow’ – that has been recently published in the June issue of The Ranfurly Review. This issue is out now as a free downloadable e-magazine, so do head over to Ranfurly‘s webpage, download the issue and have a read of my short story. ‘Entropy’s Arrow’ was written in the midst of a rather bleak, snow-filled week and, at that point in time, I was feeling particularly inspired by the work of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, Alan Shapiro (see this amazing poem here), & Theodore Roethke’s ‘The Meadow Mouse’. All these things were swirling round and the grey matter came up with ‘Entropy’s Arrow’.
Read, enjoy, think about the laws of entropy!

That’s terrific news, Elizabeth! I can’t wait! (Well, I’ll have to wait, I’m off to Canada for a week or so any day, but after that …)

Thanks heaps, Belinda! It’s so nice to have readers
I’m very jealous of your trip to Canada – you’ll have to blog about it when you get back. I spent over a month in Vancouver and Toronto (so both sides!) last year, and I just loved it. Have fun and take lots of photos!!

Just read your story, Elizabeth. Really good stuff. It’s so tight, compact. Which is hard to pull off since it’s about entropy, stuff spinning outward. I like the way you’ve managed that — all that unmanagable stuff, dot on the horizon, etc. Makes a sharp impression in a small space. Congratulations on the publication!

I’m so pleased you popped by to read ‘Entropy’s Arrow’, Michelle! And that you enjoyed it! I was trying to make her that still dot and then all these things around her still in comparison to the entropy, so I’m really glad you picked up on that and that it managed to come through. Thank you so much for the kind words – made my Friday
